Introduction :
Dr. Nune grew up in the Washington, DC area, where she received a B.S. in Interdisciplinary
Sciences with a subspeciality in Quantitative Neuroscience at the University of Maryland. This
degree combined courses in neuroscience, psychology, philosophy and alternative medicine
which was the catalyst to study clinical medicine. She attended American University of Antigua
School of Medicine where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
After medical school, she matched into Pediatric Residency at Akron Children’s Hospital in
Akron, Ohio, where she encountered many children with neurological conditions which
motivated her to pursue a fellowship in Pediatric Neurology. Dr. Nune continued training in a
Pediatric Neurology Fellowship at University of Tennessee, Memphis at Le Bonheur Children’s
Hospital. She directly witnessed how effective sleep improved baseline neurological disorders
and quality of life for patients and their families.
After completing a fellowship in Pediatric Neurology, she was accepted into a Sleep Medicine
Fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. During this fellowship, she specialized in
pediatric and adult sleep; however this spurred her interest in infants, children and adolescents
transitioning to adulthood, as well as neurodevelopmentally delayed individuals. Dr. Nune then
rotated at the NIMH in Department of Sleep and Neurodevelopment where she helped in
various projects involving autism and sleep disorders.
She currently is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Neurology and Sleep Medicine at Loma Linda
University Children’s Hospital. During her time there, she started a Pediatric Comprehensive
Sleep Clinic with a robust psychology and sleep medicine team.
In academia, Dr. Nune has been instrumental in sleep advocacy through research, resident
teaching, academic lectures and is also a published researcher. She continues to want to grow
the field of sleep medicine and wishes to improve quality of life through family and patient
centered care.
In her spare time Dr. Nune loves to travel, hike, and enjoys the beach. She is an avid cook and
enjoys volunteering and making people laugh.
